STEMapalooza was held in May 5th in Tigard. We wanted to share our knowledge that we learned about our prototypes with other people.
The purpose of our project was that someday the City of Salem may build a learning center at Glen Creek. The City wanted ideas from students using prototypes of a future learning area. First we had to learn about Glen Creek. We used equipment provided by the Diack Foundation. We took weather data and noticed that the creek floods. The depth of the water varied from different areas in the creek. After our investigations, we created companies. We made blueprints that had to match the prototype. Then we went outside and tested our prototypes to see if our gummy bears got wet. If they did, then we know our structure was not waterproof. At STEMapalooza we presented our structures. People asked us a lot of questions. We hope that some time soon, the City might build a learning center for families. By Kate |
It Started in Glen CreekOur research of Glen Creek lead us to create a new structure that would reduce the impact of floods, saving lives and repair cost of buildings.

STEM Structure EngineerSome interesting features of this structure is a filter system that helps drain water from the green roof, the side green roof that will provide more room to grow food and the way the texture of the building looks.

Glen Creek Learning Center Company This structure has a boat garage just in case Glen Creek waters began to flood. We have a dome feature. This is because it gave us a 360 angle view of nature. It also had an underwater look out so we can view the salmon we released.
